The Rabbit Girl entwines the past and present, bringing them together throughout the book. The past is set around the second world war with a little boy who is reunited with his father only then to be sent away as an evacuee. The part in the present day tells the story of a teenage girl who gets a painting from her mum but the picture has a lot more history than most.
I liked the way the author slowly combined the past and present together like a jigsaw, each chapter adding a new piece. This is a definite read for all 9-14 year olds.
