My preferred antidote to a New Year’s hangover being a good read, settling into a corner with ‘Unravelling’ was the perfect way to spend the afternoon, and debut novelist, Elizabeth Norris, didn’t disappoint.
Her story of love, insanity, the FBI, death, and a multiverse of Earths across which humans can (although shouldn’t) travel… Not to mention the impending end of the world, is succinct and edgy, and the narrative hooks you from the beginning.
Much like the stubborn Christmas cracker that refuses to crack – it resisted all attempts at being parted from my hand; forcing my eyes to continue zooming over the words that spun a captivating story through my mind.
‘Unravelling’ heightens its readers’ knowledge of what is right compared to what is easy, and at the end of the final page, Norris succeeds in making you turn straight back to the start all over again.
