Abandon by Meg Cabot 9780545284103 pub May 2011
Pierce Oliviera has it all. However she has also died. And now death wants her back.
A far cry from the red carpets and tiaras of The Princess Diaries, Meg Cabot's latest novel taps into the teenage craze of brooding not-quite-normal guys and confused, innocent girls - all mixed up in something evil. Of course, Cabot has her own take on the genre and the mythological references to death deities and Persephone and Hades give the book an interesting dimenesion.
Whilst Abandon contains the successful recipe of desire, danger and death - although not necessarily in the order you'd expect - its pace is slightly erratic. Regardless, I found it a good read and am looking forward to reading the next instalment of the trilogy.
